Chelsea E. Bird

A jewelry designer from Pawtucket, Rhode Island who works with sterling silver and vitreous (glass) enamel. Her design influences include forms in nature, architecture from: art nouveau, art deco, mid century modern design, and travel.

Artist Biography

Chelsea E. Bird is a jeweler and textile artist working out of her independent studio near Providence, RI. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2006 with a double BFA in Artisanry, focusing both on Jewelry/Metals, and Textile Design/Fiber Arts. She has been selling her jewelry at juried Fine Art and Craft Festivals, and through galleries and museum stores throughout the United States, since 2007.

Chelsea’s jewelry designs are inspired by forms in nature and influenced by her study of pattern design. Her love of color and contrasting textures features predominately in her work. She works primarily in Sterling silver, which is formed and textured using chasing and repousse, dapping, and hydraulic press forming. Color is added to her work with glass enamel, most often using the Champlevé technique to create fields of bold color set into the silver surface

Artist Statement

My delicate and modern designs are light and pleasing to wear. The small splashes of color and sparkle, compliment anything from casual chic to evening wear.
