Artist Biography

Dana C. Fear began making jewelry in high school and has a BFA in Metals from Ball State University. She lives in rural, scenic lower northern Michigan with her three kids where she works out of her combined studio and store making her own unique style of kinetic jewelry. Each piece is thoughtfully designed for both adornment and interaction. Her work is best described as sophisticated fidget jewelry, recognizing that fidgeting does not have to equal childishness. As adults we all have stressors and anxieties that need soothed. With an eye for detail and design, Dana's jewelry provides a classy, stylish and unique alternative to pen clicking, finger tapping, hair twirling...etc. While some pieces require intentional interaction to explore their playfulness, the majority of her work is designed to respond to the natural movements of the wearer through sliding wires or teetering components. As the shifts in the kinetic elements take place they produce a visual and audible response that can be both calming and meditative to the wearer.
